Mastering your Overview
1. General Settings
<- BackFirst of all, we need to configure the general settings that will be active for all tabs/overviews. This one is really important so you won't start shooting friends and your overview is less likely to screw up on high load. Open the overview settings by right-clicking on the little arrow that is left to the word "Overview" as seen in the following picture and then click "Open Overview Settings":

Now, click the "Appearance" tab, check "Apply to Ships and Drones only" and now watch carefully. Move up/down some entries by dragging them so that they look exactly like on the picture below. This is important, it might have been ok when being in an NPC corp but things are different now and if you do not do this, you might start shooting your own friends or illegal targets because they might appear red but infact they are not. You MUST do this one, it is *NEVER* correct unless yourself corrected it! Some people might not find the "Pilot has no standing" tag. In this case, delete your cache and Click on the "Reset all" button in this overview window to find it magically appear. Note I commented the icons I make blinking: These are legal targets EVERYWHERE, even in lowsec and highsec without prosecution by CONCORD. You make icons blink by right-clicking these icons and select "Blink" down in the list.

In the same "Appearance" tab, there's the sub-tab called "Background". Sort everything as shown below, people usually uncheck all entries so they have no backgrounds. While backgrounds look shiny, they can fuck up your overview especially if playing with multiple chars and the wrong ships will have backgrounds that they shouldn't have. Btw, you will also find an EWAR tab, click on that one too and make sure that everything is ticked.

Now we will configure the "Column" tab. While this one is pretty much up to your own likening, there should be atleast 4 values set for standard pilots. So you will instantly know what ship type is in your range. Sometimes, you might wish to add others, but generally this should do:

Next is the "Ship" tab. Setting the options below will show lots of useful information when hovering the mouse over a ship so you will no longer need to click on "Show Info". Do it like this:

For now, you can close the Overview Settings window to be sure that all changes made are saved and applied to your existing configuration. Now, we will need different overview settings (tabs) for different situations and that is what we are going to do next...
