Chotaire (Pre-Incursion)

Hello, My name is chotaire, I'm a founding member and long-term CEO of The Rising Stars. I'd like to take this chance to introduce myself to (new) members who don't know me yet and tell a little bit about history.

Back in 2005, Aragon Skywalker recruited me to Deep Blue Ocean only a few days after I was born in Kisogo. I was not really willing to commit myself to anything, but somehow he got me into it, leaving me the option to decide for myself if teamplay is something I can appreciate and if the help by the corporation (such as sponsoring my first PvP ships) is something that would help me get started.

In fact I enjoyed it alot and I brought my best friend breiti aswell. With Deep Blue Ocean, we anchored our first towers, had mining fleets and small PvP roams together and I learned the basics of flying in a team. Unfortunately, few months later, the directors of Deep Blue Ocean had a little armageddon with each other so the corporation was left in ashes. Encarnus started his own corporation and Aragon Skywalker decided to rebuild a new corporation from scratch, leaving this part of history behind. I decided to stay with Aragon, as he was the key leader and motivator in our group. He decided that breiti, Baserker and myself - being the most committed players in DBO - would become directors of this new corporation which we called The Rising Stars.

The first weeks were pretty idle, everyone was busy getting their stuff together. While Aragon was looking for a new home for us, I've put my own fingers on the map and found a fascinating little spot called Vevelonel, a 0.1 system far abroad from Empire where I expected silence and peace while making profit. I fell in love with this beautiful, greyish system, it had tons of belts with incredibly huge asteroids, a really low true-sec status, spawing lots of high value rats and it was in the middle of nowhere. Baserker and breiti, among others, followed the way and we've made the system ours. In fact, we were not alone, there were skilled PvP corporations around the corner, and I managed to meet the key persons in the constellation and made friends with all of them, leaving us being blue to everyone and giving me quite some practice in diplomacy. We've had to defend ourselves against intruders and we really had a great time.

Aragon found Osmeden, being an established market hub in highsec and Alparena, a 0.1 lowsec system with profitable ice belts only 2 jumps from Empire, to be destined as our new corporate home. The problem with Vevelonel was the logistics, it was too far off to make any market profit without excessive effort in transports and escorts, so with a tear in my eye we've all left to our final new home called Alparena a few months later, seriously starting to rebuild our corporation.

We brought some new high sp guys from Vevelonel such as oceloxochitl, who split from their old corporation and started recruiting new members around Osmeden such as PanzerFrosch and ElDiktator, who all would soon become key players of The Rising Stars and soon we had enough players to defend ourselves against occasional piracy threats and defend our assets successfully most of the time.

Doing POS industry and building profitable ships, such as doing regular mining fleets, soon we had our first capital ship in 2006, a Moros commanded by Aragon. As our wealth started to grow step by step and more capital ships found their way to our little corporation, our influence rose and I've started to get my diplomacy back on track, getting more and more allies around Alparena and in the neighboring Pure Blind (0.0) region, which eventually led to starting the Alparena Confederation, a lose treaty by all non-piracy corporations in the area who was able to defend and control the constellation, so we were able to take over the most valuable resources in the constellation. When there was war and we had to invest a lot of money into PvP ships, we were almost bankrupt a lot of times, but we've always managed to keep our corporation alive and get back on track.

After a rather lousy attempt to start our own alliance (someone, which was not us, forgot to pay the alliance bill, lol) together with some good friends from Stoners Inc., we decided we would be better off joining an established alliance instead. So we teamed up with allies called Fallen Souls, joining that alliance in the neighboring Pure Blind region to step into 0.0 finally, calling P-2TTL our new nullsec home. Only two weeks thereafter, Fallen Souls got merged with YouWhat, so we had to prove ourselves in a large PvP-based alliance to not get kicked out into Empire again after only a few days. We somehow made it, we were always there when we were needed and our committment was noted. So after YouWhat got their asses handed by the Mercenary Coalition in Cloud Ring, only the SteelVipers and The Rising Stars were left to rebuild the alliance, moving into Outer Ring and gaining a lot of experience defending our assets being always outnumbered in PvP but still holding the field. SteelVipers soon left to join Ev0ke and we stayed in Outer Ring for a while, screwing around with local pirates and sucking some moons. Somehow our comittment gained attention again and we joined Cosmic Anomalies alliance, who later merged into Avarice, who later merged into Un-Natural Selection *sigh*, the latter two being renowned small PvP alliances fielding supercapitals.

However, sometime inbetween, Aragon Skywalker, being the most committed player and motivator, suddenly decided to stop playing EVE. Obviously, EVE was too much for him and he decided to go for real life instead. Quickly, we had to find a new CEO for our corporation and the directors voted for me leading the corporation in the future.

During my almost 3 years of being a CEO I made sure we had a properly marketed image and that we climbed the alliance ladder with our great corporation, from Cosmic Anomalies, a small and fun pvp alliance to a renowned alliance like Un-Natural Selection and eventually proudly ending up in a first league major alliance such as Mostly Harmless. I've built The Rising Stars Academy to recruit new members for evaluation in highsec and lowsec and The Rising Stars became a 0.0 only pvp-based corporation. Our igb wiki (that you are watching right now) and our killboard was, in huge parts, developed by myself during my sparetime aswell.

Unfortunately, the utterly exhausting work and amount of time I invested into this game had to come to a halt aswell. I was forced to take a break from playing EVE for more than half a year to be able to focus on my other projects (despite my job running an ISP business, which has seen better days, I'm a digital artist and developer and I had to invest much more time in research to stay on track) and I needed to solve some sad RL issues that really took away my motivation to play the game. So we voted again and breiti was elected the new CEO of TRGSS.

Today The Rising Stars is one of the most comitted corporations within Mostly Harmless with an efficiency usually over 90%. In 2010 we finally started fielding supercapitals aswell. Thanks to the endless work by extremely committed and solid key players and PvP giants such as PanzerFrosch, Komoz Katari and Warang, but also because of each and every member today and in the past, we established ourselves as a wealthy and honoured corporation with many new faces who are on the doorstep of becoming heroes aswell.

And after all these months I'm finally back and looking forward to fly with you :) Come meet me and my alts anytime.
